Population

The population of the Met 7 at the 2021 census was 2,919,642 which is around 5% of the population of England & Wales. Of that total, 1,846,198 (63%) were working age (16-64), this compares with 63% across England and Wales as a whole.

Data on current vacancies in the Met 7 are provided by Lightcast. The most recent data (for June 2024) are from the Lightcast Q1 2024 Data Set and show a total of 1,981,394 unique job postings from 51,683 employers. The median salary for vacancies across the Met 7 area in the period was £32,064.
